Austro Control, Austria’s air navigation service provider, has selected ADB SAFEGATE’s OneControl integrated platform to modernise air traffic control (ATC) operations at Vienna Airport. The system will replace existing controller workstations in the ATC tower and is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2028.
OneControl brings together multiple streams of safety-critical information — including flight plans, surveillance data and ground-movement details — into a single interface. Controllers currently rely on separate displays for these functions but the integrated platform is designed to provide a comprehensive view of aircraft and vehicle movements across the apron, airfield and airspace.
Philipp Piber, Managing Director of Austro Control, said the platform offers a more coherent working environment for tower operations. “WithOneControl, we are relying on state-of-the-art technology and maximum operational reliability. The system will provide our air traffic controllers with optimal support in the safe and efficient handling of air traffic.”
Austro Control selected the system through an international tendering process. OneControl has been deployed at several major airports and will gradually replace legacy systems in Vienna’s ATC tower over the coming years.
