Toronto Pearson unveils new passenger management system

29 October 2026

Toronto Pearson International Airport has selected Veovo to deploy a LiDAR-powered passenger flow management system, providing real-time and predictive insights into passenger movements through security and border control areas.

The deployment will combine LiDAR sensors with Veovo’s Passenger Predictability platform to monitor queue lengths, waiting times, passenger throughput and processing performance. The information will help airport teams identify congestion, respond to changing conditions and manage resources more effectively.

Unlike conventional queue monitoring systems, the technology can distinguish between passengers, staff, children and objects while protecting privacy. Its analytics also adapt automatically to changes in queue configurations, reducing the need for manual adjustments.

“As passenger volumes continue to grow, having a clear, real-time understanding of how people move through the airport is essential,” said Brian Tossan, Chief Technology Officer at Toronto Pearson. “Veovo’s sensor-agnostic passenger intelligence platform provides real-time and predictive insights that help us better understand and manage passenger flow.”

The project forms part of Pearson LIFT, the airport’s long-term modernisation and expansion programme, which aims to improve operational efficiency and support future growth through more connected airport systems.

James Williamson, CEO of Veovo, said: “The immediate benefits come through better visibility and faster decision-making on the ground. Longer term, this creates the foundation for broader end-to-end passenger journey intelligence across the airport.”

Veovo’s Passenger Predictability platform is currently deployed at more than 90 airports worldwide.
