Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has selected a new slot coordination system to improve how capacity is managed across runway, apron and terminal operations. The platform, delivered by Veovo in partnership with OneAlpha, is designed to provide a more integrated view of demand and available infrastructure.

The system evaluates slot requests on a daily basis, assessing them against capacity constraints across different parts of the airport rather than focusing solely on runway availability. This approach is intended to give coordinators a clearer understanding of where constraints occur and support more balanced scheduling decisions.

When capacity limits are reached, the platform alerts coordinators, allowing them to accept overages or propose alternative timings. This is expected to enable earlier intervention and reduce the likelihood of congestion developing.

Airlines can submit and track slot requests through a self-service portal, with messaging processed in line with IATA Worldwide Airport Slot Guidelines. The system also provides a full audit trail, improving transparency between the airport and airline partners.

“We are pleased to work with SEA to support coordination and decision-making that reflects how airports actually operate,” said James Williamson, CEO of Veovo. “The focus is on delivering integrated airport environments that support a more resilient and holistic approach to managing constrained capacity.”

The platform includes scenario planning tools that allow SEA to model changes to infrastructure, such as terminal assignments or runway availability, using live seasonal data. Real-time utilisation reports and heatmaps provide planners with a clearer view of how demand, growth and operational changes affect capacity across the airport.
