Melbourne Airport implements new operations management platform
Melbourne Airport has completed the rollout of Veovo’s Intelligent Airport Platform, introducing a centralised system to manage operational data across flights, resources and stakeholders. The platform is intended to provide a single, shared operational view for airport teams as passenger volumes and operational complexity increase.
The web-based system consolidates core flight and operational data into one interface, enabling operations teams, planners and ground handlers to access the same real-time information. By aligning workflows around a shared dataset, the airport aims to improve coordination and reduce manual handoffs between stakeholders.
Anthony Tomai, Chief Information Officer at Melbourne Airport, said: “Working closely with Veovo, we have put in place a modern operations platform that supports current performance and creates a strong foundation for more coordinated and intelligent airport operations.”
The platform operates on a management-by-exception model, highlighting changes or disruptions that require intervention. This approach is designed to support earlier responses to operational issues and protect schedule performance during peak periods.
Phased digital integration
The deployment forms part of Melbourne Airport’s broader digital strategy. The airport is also preparing to introduce Veovo’s Revenue Management system for aeronautical billing later this year, extending the platform’s use beyond day-to-day operations.
Earlier this month, Veovo also announced the deployment of its operations platform at Newcastle International Airport in the UK, where the system is being used to support coordinated operational management as the airport advances its own digital transformation programme.
