Leena Faraj is a senior aviation strategy and governance professional with over two decades of experience supporting airport infrastructure development, organizational transformation, and policy coordination across the aviation ecosystem.
She currently serves as Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Support at Bahrain Airport Company, where she works closely with the Board of Directors, holding company subsidiaries, and national stakeholders to advance Bahrain’s national aviation strategy. Her role focuses on strategic alignment, governance coordination, and oversight across capital investment, operational readiness, and long-term planning initiatives.
Leena has contributed to the governance and delivery of major aviation programs, including the operational readiness of Bahrain International Airport’s USD 1.1 billion terminal expansion and strategic oversight of a USD 53 million portfolio of capital and operational initiatives. This experience has strengthened her focus on financial discipline, risk awareness, and balancing long-term strategic ambition with operational and economic realities. She brings strong regional and global industry engagement through Airports Council International. Leena currently serves as Vice Chair of the Economic Committee of Airports Council International Asia-Pacific and Middle East and is a member of the ACI World Economic Committee. In these roles, she contributes to regional advocacy, policy dialogue, and economic analysis, working with airports of diverse sizes, ownership models, and stages of development.
Leena has formal board experience, having previously served as a Board Director of BAC Facilities Management Company, contributing to fiduciary oversight and strategic alignment.
She continues to engage extensively at board and executive-committee level across the Bahrain Airport Company group and national entities, supporting effective governance, accountability, and stakeholder coordination.
Her governance credentials include completion of the INSEAD Corporate Governance Program, participation in the Bahrain Bourse Board Mentorship Program, and selection as a Fellow of the Diversity on Board Emerging Board Leaders Fellowship.
