Christian Kessler IV leads Airports Transformation and Innovation at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, working at the intersection of airport operations, emerging technology, and strategy.

He developed an internally funded research and development model that enables promising ideas to be tested quickly, affordably, and with greater flexibility than traditional procurement and project-delivery processes typically allow. He previously helped establish MWAA’s in-house innovation lab, where operational challenges are translated into practical solutions. Together, these efforts have produced substantial documented cost savings while expanding the Airports Authority’s ability to experiment, learn, and innovate from within.

Christian is particularly interested in unconventional business models, rapid experimentation, and the idea that meaningful transformation often begins with small, practical interventions. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, an annual guest lecturer in Cranfield University’s Airport Planning and Management program, and the holder of a patent related to airport ticket-counter signage.
