Brian Tossan, the Chief Technology Officer at the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA), brings with him over two decades of extensive experience in both the automotive and technology sectors. In his role as the leader of Information Technology and Innovation at GTAA, Brian serves as a driving force for technological advancement, pioneering new horizons in airport operations, and enhancing passenger experiences through human-centric solutions.
Before joining GTAA, Brian held the position of Director at the Canadian Technical Centre. In this role, he oversaw product engineering with a strategic focus on vehicle software, electrification, and autonomous driving systems. Under his guidance, significant milestones were achieved, including the successful design and launch of a new engineering campus in Markham, Ontario, and the establishment of the 2908 Innovation Lab at Communitech in Waterloo. Brian’s global influence expanded further when he assumed the role of Director of Global Innovation at GM. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in establishing and nurturing internal startups across diverse sectors and new markets. Brian was a staunch advocate for new technology roadmaps, spearheaded tech startup investments, and fostered strategic global partnerships.
An accomplished academic, Brian holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Indiana University – Kelley School of Business, a Master of Science in Engineering from Purdue University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Toronto. Additionally, he currently serves on the Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council at the University of Waterloo.
