Assistant Commissioner - Special Projects
Marty Joyce is a dedicated public servant with extensive experience in government, public policy, and community development. As Assistant Commissioner – Special Projects for the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), Marty oversees various operational, administrative, and strategic functions related to Chicago’s airports. Currently, he leads the Information Technology and Telecommunications Section where he’s directed the implementation of a new Airport Operations Database and is currently bringing online a new Common Use Passenger Processing System. Additionally, he manages cross-division coordination to streamline CDA processes and implements policies to enhance airport efficiency and safety.
Previously, Marty served as Chief of Staff for the City Council Committee on Aviation were he was the contact between the Committee and CDA. In that capacity, he played a key role in shaping policies impacting Chicago’s airports and aviation-related businesses. He successfully coordinating communications between the city and Aeroterm on the $56 million cargo lease agreement at O’Hare which ultimately lead to the major increases in cargo volume O’Hare enjoys today. Marty also served as the Aviation Committee’s representative on CDA’s COVID-19 Task Force, where he facilitated significant relief for airport vendors.
He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from DePaul University and a Bachelor’s in Communications from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Beyond his professional work, Marty is deeply committed to community service, including leadership roles on the Advisory Board for WINGS Metro Domestic Violence Safe House, Special Children’s Charities and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
